"... The caressing and very refined middle weight flavors possess a highly seductive mouth feel that also brims with dry extract while delivering excellent length on the beautifully complex and persistent finale that, like the Combettes, is unusually dry relative to what is common for the vintage. Class in a glass."

"Pale, bright yellow. Ripe, rich aromas of peach fuzz and grilled nuts, plus a distinct cyanic peach pit note. Offers impressive volume without undue weight, with the fruit currently in the deep background as the malo is in its latter stages. Best today on the subtle, slowly mounting finish, which displays terrific mineral grip. This should age gracefully and last well. 92-95”

"The 2010 Puligny-Montrachet Pucelles is a totally complete wine. It brings together the expressive bouquet and minerality of Combettes with some of the expressive fruit of the Folatieres. Vivid and multi-dimensional in the glass, the Pucelles wraps around the palate with serious intensity. Citrus, white flowers and green pears linger on the highly nuanced, refined finish...Leflaive's Pucelles is easily one of the highlights of the vintage."

"A textbook Pucelles nose of honeysuckle and citrus is trimmed in a discreet application of oak and a trace of exotic fruit, neither of which continue over to the delicious, round and quite generous medium-bodied flavors that possess excellent depth on the focused and unusually powerful finish. There is an ample amount of underlying tension that adds relief to the otherwise densely concentrated dry exact. This is quite simply terrific and while there is good power, the '08 Pucelles remains a wine of finesse."

Captivating, highly nuanced, leesy nose combines lime, white flowers, minerals, spices, hazelnut and herbs. Rich, chewy and sweet, with ripe acids giving the flavors an impression of energy. Less opulent today than the Combettes, more rectilinear. Finishes uncompromisingly dry and long. This wine always starts with less volume, then opens slowly with bottle age, Morey volunteers. 90-93.

The apogee of the growths and a triumph in 2003. Gold green in colour, the nose is pure Pucelles, fresh, elegantly scented but with a creamy, biscuity ripeness. The palate is delectable, taut but silkily fruited with almost sumptuous levels of succulence and a sustained concentrated finish. Drink in 2007.

This has a little bit more gas in it that the wines above. Very ripe, flowery and subtle. Very good acidity. Lots of class. I don't find quite the intensity and underlying minerality of the Combettes but this is long and delicious nevertheless. Fine plus too. From 2008-2009.

Interestingly, the Puligny-Montrachet Pucelles 2001 has the same "tannic" finish as the Clavoillon. Its expressive spicy floral flavours herald a slightly full-bodied ensemble, with pear, gravel and mineral notes. For drinking in 4-5 years. 84-87.

Puligny-Montrachet Pucelles: Precise, expressive aromas of lemon, peach, mint and wet stone, with a cool, steely aspect. Dry, intensely flavored, focused and penetrating. Classy and quite long. The best of these premier crus today by a wide margin. 90-93

"Thick and opulent, very satisfying, this full-bodied Chardonnay is packed with clean tropical fruits (especially pineapple), dried herbs, smoke and mineral notes that provide plenty of excitement. With time, it should flesh out with a seductive, smooth finish... Best from 2006 through 2015." 95

Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1999 : This is another very discreet wine. Not singing as much as the Folatières on the nose. Does it have the same level of acidity? Rich, fat and plump in its fruit. Certainly long. Certainly fine. Lovely poised fruit but does it lack a bit of energy? From 2004.

Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1999 : (recently racked): Aromas of candied citrus fruits and spices along with a strong mineral component; taking up the new wood quickly. Tightly wrapped but tangy; comes across as less dense and more obviously structured than the Combettes, and finer. The Combettes is more like Batard, while this more closely resembles Chevalier-Montrachet. 90-93.

Initially, the Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles 1999 gives off a nose of toasty oak and spice, developing floral and mineral notes on airing. The ensemble, fairly full-bodied, is as full as it is deep; it gradually unfolds stony and smoky notes. This well-made wine is again distinguished by a long, supple finish.

      Wine tasting

      Stephen Tanzer, International Cellar
      September/October 2005, Issue 122

      2004 Puligny Montrachet Les Pucelles
Captivating, highly nuanced, leesy nose combines lime, white flowers, minerals, spices, hazelnut and herbs. Rich, chewy and sweet, with ripe acids giving the flavors an impression of energy. Less opulent today than the Combettes, more rectilinear. Finishes uncompromisingly dry and long. This wine always starts with less volume, then opens slowly with bottle age, Morey volunteers. 90-93.

      Decanter, February 2006

2004 Domaine Lefl aive, Puligny-Montrachet, Pucelles
"Finely textured and fl uid with a piercing steely core and taut acidity. It's graceful and poised, in a more feminine style with a long, fi ne and pure fi nish. The vintage seems to suit this style. From 2010."
