Domaine Leflaive - Puligny Montrachet
1989
A warm and very sunny year. There was a bit of "coulure" (poor fruit set) with the Chardonnay flowering, limiting production to a level that allowed excellent ripening. An early harvest, from 15 to 23 September, produced rich, well-balanced musts from very healthy grapes.

Grand Cru blanc,
Chevalier-Montrachet 1989 ****
"A warm and very sunny year with limited production, an early harvest, and rich, well-balanced musts obtained from healthy grapes", sums up the technical information supplied by the domaine. The result is exemplary! A beautiful brilliant gold, this Chevalier does not have the roasted and overripe aromas of many 89s, but instead fine, complex notes of honey, flowers (hawthorn, acacia), etc. Power without heaviness, elegance and harmony characterise the palate, with the "spiritual", distinguished nature typical of the terroir.
